Welcome Cagliari Metropolitan City of Learning!
The Metropolitan City of Cagliari replaced the former Province of Cagliari in 2016 and its territory now includes Cagliari, the capital city of the island of Sardinia and its economic, industrial and administrative hub, and 16 other municipalities, for a total of 432000 inhabitants. Situated in the south of the island, overlooking the eponymous gulf, Cagliari is home to an international airport and one of the biggest ports in the Mediterranean Sea, which makes tourism one of the city’s main resources.
Our focus for the platform is first and foremost to provide a common place to offer and look for learning opportunities for all the municipalities of the area. We especially aim at raising our youngsters’ employability by promoting international mobility opportunities as well as learning opportunities for migrants and people with fewer opportunities.
On Cagliari Metropolitan City of Learning platform learning providers get a chance to promote their activities, both digital and in person, and to find participants for their projects, courses, internships and other learning opportunities.
For young people, the opportunity to find information about learning activities happening in the area, to join the activities and gain digital open badges that certify their learning.
We aim at strengthening the bond between the 17 municipalities of the Metropolitan City by promoting learning opportunities for the whole territory in one platform. We promote learning opportunities of different kinds and for different target groups all in one place. We raise the issue of recognition of non-formal learning and share the good practice of using digital badges.
Digital can be scary: involve people directly and teach them the tips and tricks of how to use the platform, so that they don’t feel intimidated or overwhelmed and can then act as multipliers.
